GIFT (Gamete Intrafallopian Transfer) is an assisted reproductive technology used to treat infertility. In this procedure, eggs are surgically removed from the woman's ovaries and mixed with sperm from the male partner or a donor. The mixture is then immediately transferred into the woman's fallopian tubes using laparoscopy.
The goal of GIFT is to achieve fertilization and subsequent pregnancy inside the woman's body, rather than in a laboratory dish as in IVF. GIFT may be preferred over IVF in certain cases, such as when a woman has a blocked or damaged fallopian tube but is still able to produce eggs. GIFT may also be preferred by couples who have religious or ethical objections to the fertilization of embryos outside the body.
However, due to the advances in IVF, the use of GIFT has decreased in recent years as pregnancy rates in IVF tend to be equal or better and do not require laparoscopy for the transfer of the fertilized eggs. AASHAKIRAN IVF offers a range of assisted reproductive technologies, including IVF, ICSI, and other procedures, to help couples achieve their dream of having a child.
