CAUSES OF BLEEDING DURING PREGNANCY

            

Vaginal bleeding during pregnancy has many cause

Ectopic pregnancy

 Occur when fertilized egg implants and grows outside the main cavity of   the uterus. Most often it occurs in a fallopian tube, called Tubal pregnancy.

Sometimes, an ectopic pregnancy occurs in other areas, such as the ovary, cervix.

  • Implantation bleeding  : Light spotting or bleeding that occurs about 10 to 14 days after  conception.  Some women don't experience implantation bleeding. Implantation bleeding is lighter than menstrual bleeding.
  • Miscarriage : A miscarriage is the loss of your baby before 20 weeks of pregnancy.

 Miscarriage is caused by:

  • Hormonal abnormalities
  • Immune system and blood clotting problems
  • Medical conditions
  • Severe infections
  • Physical problems with your womb or cervix
  • Molar pregnancy

Is a rare complication of pregnancy characterized by the abnormal growth   of  trophoblasts .The placental tissue is abnormal.

  • Incompetent cervix

 During pregnancy, the cervix softens, shortens and dilates so you can give birth. Incompetent cervix occurs when the cervix opens too early and silently during the pregnancy. Incompetent cervix is also known as cervical insufficiency.

  • Placenta previa

 Called a ‘low-lying placenta’, is when the placenta is attached in the lower part of the womb. Placenta previa occurs when a baby's placenta partially or totally covers the mother's cervix. Placenta previa can cause severe bleeding during pregnancy and delivery.

  • Placenta accreta

The placenta attaches itself too deeply and too firmly into the uterus.

  • Preterm labor

     Baby unexpectedly arrives sooner: Preterm, or premature, labor occurs after week 20 of pregnancy .
