Do fibroids stop you from getting pregnant?
Uterine fibroids are benign non-cancerous tumors that occur in the muscle tissue of the uterus. Women usually have more than one fibroid and they vary in size and location. They are also called myomas or leiomyomas. Fibroids can change the shape or size of the uterus and sometimes the cervix. Women usually have more than one fibroid tumor but single fibroids are possible
There are three types of fibroids.

Fibroids that are very large, more than 6 centimeters in size and those located inside the uterine cavity are examples of situations where fibroids may affect patient ability to get pregnant.
Most women with fibroids will not be infertile. Women with fibroids and their partners should be thoroughly evaluated to find other problems with fertility before fibroids are treated.
On the other side in can cause infertility. It can change the shape of the cervix can affect the number of sperm that can enter the uterus. It also can changes in the shape of the uterus can interfere with the movement of the sperm or embryo. These fibroids can block the fallopian tubes which can cause infertility. They can impact the size of the lining of the uterine cavity. Fibroids can also affect the Blood flow to the uterine cavity. This can decrease the ability of an embryo to implant to the uterine wall.
